My favourite K-Pop story of 2014 was the rise and dominance of EXID, all thanks to a fan-cam. They released the song "Up & Down" last year, which immediately shot up to #1 on my personal chart. It would have to be one of my all time favourite K-Pop songs.
Fellow K-Pop fans were mixed on the song and MV, which led to it not performing as well as it should have on the charts. Then out of nowhere, a fan-cam of member HANI performing became a viral hit, and the song caught public attention again. They went on to win numerous music shows and reach #1!
It's now 2015, and they performed at one of the biggest nights in K-Pop. The Gaon Music Awards. It was definitely my favourite performance of the night. They absolutely killed with the vocals, and the original choreography was so much fun to see! In this performance, they proved to us all that they are here to compete with the bigger girl groups.
What separates EXID from most girl groups is their ability to perform their songs almost flawlessly in their live shows. We actually hear their voices! That is something rare in K-Pop these days.
EXID have my support! Let's hope they keep their success going with another comeback. Their talent and electrifying stage personalities in this performance proves that they deserve it. Watch it below:
